5,082 NEW STUDENTS SET TO PURSUE THEIR STUDIES IN 47 STUDY PROGRAMMES AT UUM
UUM ONLINE: Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ (UUM) has offered places to a total of 5,082 new students to pursue 47 study programmes for the 2021/2022 academic session.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah who is performing the duties of Vice-Chancellor said, candidates who accepted the admission offer comprised candidates who completed studies at the Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM), Diploma, Matriculation, Foundation Studies in Management at UUM and Malaysian Higher Religious Certificate (STAM) levels as well as international students.
He said, UUM will admit a total of 4,817 local students through UPU intake, students from the UUM Centre for Foundation Studies in Management, and students who applied through open channels, with the remaining 252 being international students and students from the golf excellence preparation programme, with the total Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of candidates this year being 3.43.
Furthermore, UUM will admit 16 disabled students, including three Orang Asli students from Tapah, Perak and Kuala Rompin, Pahang.
"In terms of international student admissions, UUM will receive the most admissions from Indonesia, totalling 116 students, followed by students from China (15), Yemen (9) and Somalia (4), Nigeria, Algeria, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and others," said Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman at a press conference recently held at the Office of UUM Corporate Communication.
Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman also stated at the press conference that the three study programmes with the most admissions were the Bachelor of Accounting with Honours (347), Bachelor of Business Administration with Honours (311), and Bachelor of Economics with Honours (317).
Furthermore, out of a total of 5,082 students who were offered to further their studies at UUM, 466 students obtained CGPA of 4.0 (9.17 percent), of which 233 were from the Bachelor of Accounting with Honors programme, followed by the Bachelor of Law with Honours (74), the Bachelor of Accounting (Information Systems) with Honours (49) and the rest from other programmes offered.
Returning and new students will physically return to campus in stages beginning 15 October, as announced by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). Students must adhere to strict standard operating procedures (SOP) and meet all vaccination requirements, as well as pass the efficacy period following vaccination.
It is projected that approximately 2,600 returning students and 900 new students will enter the campus during this first phase, however this number will fluctuate according to the ongoing feedback process.
Beginning 5 and continuing through 7 October, new domestic and international students will participate in an online Orientation Week (MSK) in response to the COVID-19 epidemic.
Local students will participate in the Orientation Week via Facebook Live (Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Official FB), while international students will participate via Webex.
