Commissioner General Of Prisons Department Visits UUM Vice-Chancellor
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani received a courtesy visit from the Commissioner General of Prisons, Prisons Department of Malaysia, KJP Dato' Sri Hj Zulkifli Omar at Visitors’ Lounge, Chancellery, last Thursday.
The visit was aimed at discussing the direction and strengthening the collaboration between Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ (UUM) and the Correctional Institution in Malaysia which has been established for over 13 years, particularly through the School of Applied Psychology, Social Work and Policy (SAPSP).
The Dean of SAPSP, Dr. Abdul Razak Abd Manaf said discussions also focused on the enhancement of the certificate, post-diploma and master programmes which were being pursued by the prison officers throughout Malaysia.
“This is in line with the desire to enable government employees, especially prison officers, to constantly improve their knowledge and skills to perform and provide better service.
"In addition, both sides have agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of research and publications for the benefit of society and the needs of the country," he said.
Meanwhile, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir also welcomed and fully supported the cooperation between UUM and the Prisons Department of Malaysia for mutual benefit.
Also present at the event were Deputy Commissioner General of Prisons (Correctional), TKJP Dato' Abdul Aziz Abdul Razak; Deputy Director of Development and Professionalism, TKP Mr. Adnan Atan; and UUM CAS Assistant Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Huda Hj Ibrahim.
