UUM ONLINE: Concerned with the needs of the campus denizens, especially students who will soon be undergoing teaching and learning (PdP) activities, Telekom Malaysia (TM) Berhad is offering Unifi Mobile special package at as little as MYR59 a month.

General Manager of TM Kedah / Perlis, Anis Ahmad Mohd Ibrahim said due to a sense of responsibility towards the students at UUM, TM took the initiative of offering unlimited calls and data packages to all students including staff at the university.

According to him, the special package can be subscribed via the website and the sim card will be sent directly to the customer's place of registration.

"TM is aware of the importance of the internet now especially throughout the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO). This package is essential as a lot of data is needed to get through the day and the package offered to UUM students and staff is timely and comes at a special price.

"The Unifi Mobile package comes with unlimited calls, unlimited data and unlimited SMS, the campus denizens can make the most of it throughout this time, and students can also access the Internet for Online Learning (OL)," he said after the Presentation of COVID-19 Welfare Fund Ceremony at the Student Accommodation Centre (SAC) recently.

At the event, TM Berhad presented a contribution amounting MYR10,000 to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani.

According to Mr Anis said the financial aid was to facilitate assistance to UUM students who were still on campus during the period of the MCO.

He expressed hope that the aid will help the university management to provide the students and frontline personnel with their daily needs.

He also called on UUM students to be patient and calm, as well as try to fill up their days doing useful activities such as joining OL, learning new topics every day at their respective rooms and always be aware of the current situation.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor expressed his heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to TM Berhad for willing to contribute to meet the needs of students at the university until the end of the MCO.

"I pray that things will improve but should the government decide to extend the MCO further, we are prepared to take appropriate steps to ensure the welfare of students.

"The University has also decided to implement the online or remote learning system starting 27 April to keep things calm and we will ensure that teaching and learning will not be affected at all," he said.

He expressed confidence of the internet facilities on campus as the University had taken many initiatives in dealing with cases involving conditions similar to the ones as Covid-19.
