UUM ONLINE: The University Health Centre (PKU) urges campus residents to take the Movement Control Order (MCO) that has been enforced since 18 March seriously to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Director of PKU, Dr. Adi Azhar Abdul Razak said COVID-19 has become a pandemic that has taken the lives of thousands of people across the globe, hence, campus denizens have been reminded to take serious precautions.

“During these uncertain times as a result of the outbreak, the PKU is constantly monitored the health of the campus denizens and we urge the students to continue to adhere to MCO as recommended by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

"We should break the COVID-19 infection chain by taking preventive measures for the sake of shared safety, such as staying at home or on campus, maintaining good personal hygiene, washing hands with water and soap or using hand sanitizer," he said.

According to Dr Adi to reduce the movement among students, the PKU had set up a mobile clinic at Bukit Kachi that operated from 10.30 am to 12.30pm and 2.30 pm to 4.30pm on weekdays.

He said the initiative was taken to provide convenience to students and staff affected by the implementation of the MCO to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak.

“Our target is students staying at Bukit Kachi, so those who are ill and want to get health services at PKU will no longer need to take the bus to campus as the mobile clinic is near them.

"To date, the response has been very good.  It shows that UUM cares about the welfare of students and demonstrates UUM's concern for the crisis that is happening now," he said.

Meanwhile, fellow student, Ms Nur Ashieda Shamimi Latanrang from the Bank Rakyat Residential Hall (INASIS) said she was grateful to the University and the PKU for providing this mobile clinic at Bukit Kachi.

According to her, the facilities provided made it easier and faster for the students to have access to health checks and medical treatment without having to go to campus.

“Given that we are in the MCO, the convenience of the PKU mobile clinic is very effective and it is a great initiative of the University for students and staff at Bukit Kachi.

"I do not have to take the bus to the PKU, which saves me time and energy," said she who was accompanied by her friend, Ms Raihanah Ariff.
