Don't Let Malicious Hands Destroy God's Creation
Graduates of Â鶹ֱ²¥ (UUM) are likened to light that brings new shine to the world and the green earth with perfect environmental biodiversity.
In this regard, it is the responsibility of the graduates not to allow the evil hands to destroy the gift of God's creation.
UUM Pro-Chancellor, Tun Dato' Seri (Dr.) Ahmad Fairuz Sheikh Abdul Halim said his rhetoric echoed in Surah ar-Rahman, verse 13 which said, " So which of the favours of your Lord would you deny?"
"When all graduates step into the workforce, keep in mind that we are all 'caliphs' on this earth who have been entrusted to manage and administer the land better.
"Make the best use of resources to ensure the survival of our future, the generation of our grandchildren so that they can enjoy and experience them," he said at the seventh session of the 32nd UUM Convocation Ceremony.
He said that as an institution of higher learning, UUM not only stood firm to raise human capital for the nation's development but also played a role in educating the nation to become a spiritually and physically prosperous as well as appreciative of the gifts from the Divine.
He said, sadly, in recent times many natural disasters had claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and involved billions of dollars’ worth of property in the blink of an eye, and Malaysia had not been spared from being tested by natural disasters such as floods, landslides, haze, storm, drought and tsunami.
"Truly every disaster that has come upon this country or any other in this world must be our lesson and it has made us aware that property is a loan and this world is temporary, so let us work together and unite to prosper on God earth at its best.
"Therefore, it is very important for the university to adopt and implement the concept of sustainability on campus. Sustainable development refers to the ability to preserve the living system for humans and other life in the world.
"We should all have a desire to create a sustainable quality of life that encompasses economic, social and environmental systems to ensure a comfortable and productive living environment," he said.
During the session, a total of 744 graduates received their respective degrees presented by the Pro-Chancellor.
