FORMER UUM VICE-CHANCELLOR APPOINTED AS THE NEW HIGHER EDUCATION DIRECTOR-GENERAL

mantan VC KPPTUUM ONLINE: The Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) announced the appointment of Former UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak as the new Director-General of Higher Education effective 4 May 2020.

The presentation of the letter of appointment was officiated by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), Datuk Seri Dr. Mazlan Yusoff witnessed by the Minister of Higher Education, Dato' Dr. Noraini Ahmad.

Meanwhile UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani extended his heartiest congratulations to Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa on the appointment.

According to him, he and UUM denizens were honoured when the Director-General of Higher Education was selected from among UUM professors.

“I am confident that with his dedication and experience, he will be able to lead the Higher Education Department, MoHE to even greater heights.

"I also hope that he can continue to assist UUM in building international excellence, thus boosting UUM's reputation, image and performance in the eyes of the world," he said in a speech at the Senate Meeting.

Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa began his early career at UUM as a tutor, then as a lecturer. He held various UUM administrative posts including Director of the Centre for International Affairs and Cooperation; Dean of School; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni); Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International) and subsequently as UUM’s 7th Vice-Chancellor from June 2010 to 2018.

He has a doctorate in Political Sociology from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom and is a Professor in the field of Politics and International Studies at UUM Kuala Lumpur.
