Help The University By Being Active Alumni
Alumni Engagement Ceremony: Hi-Tea with the Vice-Chancellor can strengthen the role of alumni in assisting the university and reinforcing the coalescence of love that has established.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hendrik Lamsali who represented the Vice-Chancellor said alumni who are now serving the University must play their part by assisting the university to locate and update information about the other alumni who are now working in various jobs and industries.
He said the strong bond created can encourage alumni to give back to the university through sharing of knowledge and experience.
According to him, alumni can also help to develop the University Edutourism sector the promotion of attractive packages and seize the opportunity to promote Edutourism to attract friends to the campus.
"We are proud that UUM alumni have created success, among them are Raja Azura Raja Mahayuddin, a graduate of Bachelor of Accountancy in 1997 who was announced as Influential Leader 2019 by AACSB International recently.
According to him, Mr. Shazmi Ali Sardar Ali, a graduate of Human Resource Management in 1999 was the recipient of the 2018 Global Human Resource Award and Datuk Indera Khairul Dzaimee Daud is currently the Director-General of the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
Besides that he also encouraged alumni who are economically stable to contribute to those who need help.
“UUM has many students who are in need of financial assistance. As many as 70% of them belong to the B40 category, UUM has set up 2 programmes namely the On Campus Work Scheme and creating a café that provides free meals to students on daily basis. If 1,000 staff are willing to contribute RM30 a month then this programme can be continued.
At the event, the Alumni Welfare Fund was launched for the purpose of raising funds to be donated to the needy students. Funds amounting MYR30,000 was then presented by the Director of the Alumni Centre, Dr. Achmad Dzariean Mohd Nadzri to Mr. Abdul Shakur Abdullah who represented the UUM Alumni Association. Present to witness the event was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hendrik Lamsali.
Meanwhile, UUM alumni, Mr. Sallam Abdullah, 31, welcomed programmes that could foster rapport among UUM Alumni especially those who become UUM staff.
"This programme is very useful and it becomes a platform for social interaction among alumni in addition to meeting friends," said the Public Management graduate currently working at OYAGSB.
