INTEREST AND PERSISTENCE PAID OFF FOR UUM STUDENT AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL KEDAH ZAKAT ONLINE PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION 2020
UUM ONLINE: Mr Mohammad Daniel Mohammad Ismail’s overwhelming interest in Public Speaking since school and persistence paid off when the semester five student emerged champion of the National Level Kedah Zakat Online Public Speaking Competition 2020 recently.
According to Mr Mohammad Daniel, the competition which he participated in was unique because it was carried out in cyberspace, thus making him feel very excited compared to the ones which were previously held face to face.
In spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr Mohammad Daniel was grateful for being able to compete and emerging the champion.
He also said that his experience taking part in the competition this time was quite different. During previous competitions, he stood before life audience. However, this time he only had to focus on the camera.
"There are definitely additional challenges such as having to prepare from a more technical point of view. Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly.
"This victory is the result of training and participating in previous Public Speaking competitions. They helped me a lot in honing and improving my public speaking skills," said the student of the Bachelor of Philosophy, Law and Business programme.
He added that he had also represented UUM in the Kedah Youth Public Speaking Competition at the National Level and managed to secure the fifth place. He also said that he would continue to improve on his inadequacies.
According to him, past experiences had taught him to continue to be active in the Public Speaking and that he had the support of his parents, lecturers and friends.
"I will continue to strive, hone my talent by participating in other competitions," he said.
The National Level Kedah Zakat Online Public Speaking Competition 2020 was organised by the Kedah State Zakat Board.
