MEMBERS OF BETA GAMMA SIGMA UUM CHAPTER FETED
A total of 95 outstanding students were feted in the UUM Chapter BGS Meet & Greet 2.0 and Induction Ceremony 2022 which took place at Dewan Sri Angsana, EDC-UUM, recently.
During the ceremony organised by the Office of the Assistant Vice-Chancellor, UUM COB, 59 exceptional and active students were inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS).
In his address, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah urged students to study diligently and contribute actively to society in order to become excellent students and achieve extraordinary success.
"Do your tasks with enthusiasm, let the lecturer be surprised by the result of the task and respect the educator. Read a lot not only in the field you are studying but across various fields in preparation to become a leader in the future," he said.
Taking inspiration from the American swimming legend, Michael Phelps, he urged the students to emulate his perseverance. Phelps holds the record for the most Olympic Games medals because he trains for 17 hours per day, allowing him to become the world's best swimmer.
"It's all about determination and attitude because your attitude dictates your accomplishments, so continue to improve and exert more effort," he said.
He stated that the purpose of the meeting between members of Cohorts 5 and 6 and the management was to celebrate the students' return to campus for the A221 session.
In addition to the letter of appointment as a member of BGS Cohort 6, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman also presented the BGS Highest Honours Chapter 2021-2022 Certificate to the former president of the BGS UUM Chapter, Ms Nur Hidayah Mohd Rizal.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mazrah Malik @ Malek, BGS Coordinator, remarked that the BGS UUM Chapter had attained extraordinary recognition over the past two years and expressed hope that BGS UUM will achieve even greater success in the future.
"We have been recognized again in 2022 and named the Highest Honours Chapter for the fourth year in a row, elevating UUM to a campus that values academic excellence and elevating the standing of the Beta Gamma Sigma UUM Chapter on the international stage.
"This significant event aims to recognise students and provide a venue for socialising, interacting, and celebrating the BGS UUM Chapter. I am grateful and excited for the newly appointed members of Cohort 6, Congratulations!" she exclaimed.
UUM became the first university in Malaysia and the fifth in Southeast Asia to launch BGS after obtaining accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and subsequently establishing the BGS UUM Chapter.
