MPLPU Provides Platform For The Sharing Of Information And Views
Kuala Lumpur – The Chairmen of the University Board of Directors (LPU) of various public universities converged at a special meeting at EDC to share information and views.
Chairman of UUM LPU, Prof. Dato' Dr. Sudin Haron said all LPU chairmen were responsible for aligning the interests of their respective universities by making the meeting a place of partnership.
However, he said as a council they were not able to make any decision but could only to put forth suggestions to the Ministry.
"We suggest that the Ministry take note of the views and ideas put forth by us for the development of our respective universities.
"In this meeting we will also discuss autonomy as many are uninformed about the autonomy status," said Prof. Dato' Dr. Sudin who chaired the 5th MPLPU Meeting at EDC Hotel yesterday.
In addition, according to him, all universities were advised to use technology to ensure standardization; in fact the Ministry of Education also recommended the use of similar expertise.
At the meeting, the agenda included discussions on policies and enhancement programmes and development of universities in line with the mandate of the Minister of Education and the strategic partnership of the university with outsiders by proposing benchmarking programmes of overseas universities to the Chairman of the LPU.
A total of 18 LPU Chairmen from the various public universities nationwide attended the 5th MPLPU Meeting No. 1/2019.
