Parents Urged To Monitor The Development Of Their Children In Hopes Of Engendering First Class Graduates
"Parents should not entirely hand over their responsibilities to the University in the hopes of witnessing their children’s success. They should in fact work together to monitor their children’s progress so that the University can produce first-class graduates," said the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani at the Parents and Vice-Chancellor Meet and Greet Session in conjunction with the registration of new students who enrolled for the Foundation Studies in Management Programme 2019/2020 academic session at the Seminar Hall, Islamic Centre yesterday.
According to him, the university was committed in producing first-class students, realising the fact that the working world has become competitive and jobs are difficult to secure.
Hence, he expressed his hopes that the students would concentrate on academic activities so that they can graduate with excellent results and obtain good jobs, consistent with their excellent achievement throughout their course of study at UUM.
The Vice-Chancellor also reiterated that to ensure that these students continue to excel, the role of parents was also important whereby parents must constantly monitor the progress of their children and ensure that their children continue to learn.
At the same time, he also encouraged parents to work together to improve the ranking of the University as currently UUM’s ranking at the international level has continued to surge upwards in the QA Asia University Rankings (QS-AUR) and Asia University Rankings Times Higher Education (THE).
During the two-hour meeting, the Vice-Chancellor also shared information about the amenities and up-to-date facilities provided by UUM such as the finest accommodation facilities, Wifi and student welfare.
Also held was a question and answer session which was attended by parents and present to address the questions were the Director of Centre for Foundation Studies in Management, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Munif Zarirrudin Fikri Nordin and Deputy Dean of Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy (TISSA), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norhani Aripin.
Meanwhile, fellow parent, Mr. Mohd Saidi Abd Rahman, said he was excited and pleased to know that his eldest child, Nur Syuhada was chosen among the thousands of candidates who completed their 2018 Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) to attend an interview session to pursue the Foundation Studies in Management Programme at this university.
Nurul Syuhada is among the 270 students who are offered the opportunity to pursue foundation studies in Management for the 2019/2020 academic session. She obtained 7As in the 2018 SPM.
