PHASE TWO OF UUM CAMPUS SUSTAINABILITY MASTER PLAN TO BE LAUNCHED NEXT YEAR

WhatsApp Image 2024 06 27 at 12.02.19 PMUUM ONLINE: Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ (UUM) is set to launch the UUM Living Campus Sustainable Phase 2 Master Plan next year.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan, announced that UUM has already developed a comprehensive green sustainability master plan for the UUM campus, called the UUM Living Campus Sustainable. This plan is set to reach it second phase by next year.

"Phase 2 is based on Phase 1, which will develop a programme module that focuses on the ongoing implementation of sustainable practices in the green and sustainability aspects.

"In phase 2, we will record important issues and measures that have been and will be implemented to ensure that the 'living campus' continues in the future," he said at the STML Green Campus Opening Ceremony held at the STML Seminar Hall this morning.

The Green Carnival 2024 programme, organised by the School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML), aims to promote environmental sustainability. This initiative is designed to raise awareness among STML denizens about the importance of incorporating environmental, social, and economic sustainability into their daily lives.

Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan expressed hope that the plan would be consistently reinforced, leading to enhanced advantages, the cultivation of innovative thinking, and an ongoing evaluation of the sustainability level of daily activities.

He emphasized the significance of initiatives like this in UUM's pursuit of sustainable development and a brighter future for the next generation.

Meanwhile, the Dean of STML, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Najib Salleh, said that the carnival was entirely planned by STML students, highlighting the significant contribution of the younger generation in developing environmental awareness.

He also stated that the carnival serves as more than just an event but also an opportunity for everyone to come together and actively contribute to environmental preservation through various organised activities.

He further reiterated that the organisation of the carnival serves as an indirect inspiration to promote sustainability and environmental awareness for the future.

At the same event, the Chief Executive Officer, MSM Malaysia Holdings Berhad, Mr. Syed Feizal Syed Mohamad, presented a generous donation amounting to RM7,000 for the STML Green Carnival Programme. Additionally, he was honoured with an invitation to speak at the CEO Talk programme.

Also present at the event were Executive Chairman, Eco Green Global Sdn. Bhd., Dato' Rosli Sharif; Head of the Environment Department in Kulim, Ts. Mohd Faizal Abdul Jalil; Head of E-Idaman Corporate Communications, Mr. Firdaus Mohd Isa; and senior university officials.
