SBM-PAYNET IS SET TO PRODUCE MANY YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS
UUM ONLINE: The Entrepreneurship Incubation Centre provides a platform for entrepreneurial students to receive the necessary guidance, support, and facilities to foster the growth of their businesses in the future.
Mr. Firdaus Ghani, the Senior Director, Government Digitization Division, Payments Network Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (PayNet) said that 9 out of 10 sustenance is derived from business; therefore, his team is prepared to make contributions that would have the maximum impact on the community.
"We offer a diverse array of entrepreneurial assistance, particularly to students who are experiencing hardship, so they may find employment, generate income, and enable their families to free themselves from the vicious cycle of poverty.
"In addition to digital learning, our intention is to engage in various initiatives aimed at satisfying, assisting, offering amenities, and maintaining collaboration with UUM,鈥 he said at the conclusion of the opening ceremony of the UUM-Paynet 2u2i Entrepreneurial Incubation Centre at SBM.
He also extended his profound gratitude to UUM, particularly to Assoc. Prof. Dr Sahadah Hj Abdullah, the Head of the UUM-Paynet Cashless Campus Digitization Project, who has been described as the backbone of the project in realising this meaningful programme.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the School of Business Management (SBM), Assoc. Prof. Dr Shuhymee Ahmad, stated that in the era of digital globalisation and a borderless world, digital entrepreneurship plays a significant part in the economic development of a country.
He explained that digital entrepreneurship offers tremendous opportunities for entrepreneurs to leverage technology and innovation to develop businesses in a more effective and competitive manner. However, it is also a challenge due to the rapidly evolving environment and the necessity of remaining informed about the latest technological advancements.
"The field of entrepreneurship has the potential to not only create employment opportunities but also be a catalyst for competitiveness and innovation. Therefore, the establishment of the Entrepreneurship Incubation Centre is a smart measure to produce a greater number of young entrepreneurs who are both competitive and innovative in the future.
"In this room, prospective entrepreneurs will receive training and exposure to a variety of entrepreneurial knowledge from academics and industrialists who are invited to share their experiences and business management procedures.
"I would like to extend my congratulations and gratitude to the members of the UUM-PAYNET Cashless Campus Project Implementation Committee for their tireless efforts over the past few months. The executive committee, which consisted of lecturers assisted by students from the 2u2i mode Entrepreneurship Programme, dedicated their efforts to ensuring the success of this event," he said.
He mentioned that the Entrepreneurship Incubation Centre was working alongside the launch of the Bachelor of Entrepreneurship Programme (Mode 2u2i).
"This serves as the central hub for meetings and classes for students enrolled in the Bent Mode 2u2i programme. This unique curriculum involves two years of learning at the university (2u) and 2 years of learning in the industry (2i), all under the guidance of both an academic mentor and an industry mentor.
"The goal of this program is to produce graduate entrepreneurs who can contribute to the market and national development, in accordance with the government's recommendations."
"Praise be to Allah, this programme successfully produced its first cohort of graduates last year. The graduates have achieved remarkable success in running their own businesses, and some have even earned a substantial income," he said.
On behalf of the staff at SBM, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to PayNet for their willingness to contribute RM50,000 towards the enhancement of the entrepreneurial incubation centre by rebranding it as the 2u2i UUM-PayNet Entrepreneurial Incubation Centre.
"With improved facilities, we hope to see more creative and innovative ideas generated that can be effectively transformed into useful products and services.
"Numerous ideas presented during the lectures have been effectively implemented in the real business world, namely Sintokyo and Food a Box, among others," he added.
