SECRETARY-GENERAL OF MOE IMPRESSED WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF UUM

UUM ONLINE: Secretary-General, Ministry of Education Malaysia, Dato' Dr Mohd Gazali Abas is pleased with the development of UUM which he describes as impressive.

“From the exterior I was amazed, I thought the campus would be difficult to maintain, moreover with the campus’s extensive acreage which is about 1,061 hectares, however, I am thrilled to see the tremendous growth thanks to the leadership and teamwork amongst the denizens of UUM.

"When I visited the National Golf Academy, it certainly gave me the feeling of being in a world-class facility, complete with state-of-the-art teaching aids, experienced coaches and other impressive facilities," he said at the Visitors’ Lounge in conjunction with the Secretary-General, Ministry of Education Malaysia's Visit, to UUM recently.

He expressed hopes that UUM will become a world-class university with continuous efforts and steps to internationalize UUM worldwide.

Shortly thereafter, he also attended a meeting attended by the Heads of Centres of Authority and members of the University Management Committee that was held at the Senate Meeting Room, 4th Floor of the Chancellery Building.

During the nearly two-hour meeting, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato' Dr Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani expressed his heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the Secretary-General's visit to UUM.

The Vice-Chancellor presented the background and achievements of the UUM followed by a speech and the sharing of ideas from the Secretary-General.

Earlier, Dato' Dr Mohd Gazali who was accompanied by the Vice-Chancellor, visited the Information and R&R gateway, Welcome Centre while he listened to the Discover UUM briefing delivered by the Director of UUM Corporate Communication, Hajah Rasidah Rodzi.

Next, he visited the project site under construction while being briefed by the Director of Development and Maintenance Department (JPP), Ir. Md. Uzairin Saidin and his team.

He also spent some time meeting with the members of staff at the National Golf Academy (NGA) where he was briefed on the role of NGA in the development of golf at the University.

His arrival at U-Assist was warmly welcomed by Director of U-Assist, Dr Azizi Ab Aziz who described the role and development of U-Assist.
