Self-Accreditation Status Certification Follow-Up Audit Begins
In order to maintain the Self-Accreditation Status certification as means of improving the quality of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) accredited programmes, UUM will undergo a two-day MQA follow-up audit accreditation process which began yesterday.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. Yusnidah Ibrahim said UUM had always provided its highest cooperation to ensure the smooth running of the Self-Accreditation follow-up process.
According to her, the audit was aimed at looking at the action plan that UUM had taken after the university was awarded with the Self-Accreditation status two years ago.
She further reiterated that in order to ensure that the programmes offered at this university met the standards and requirements set by MQA and the Department of Higher Education, UUM had taken the initiative to set up a special unit namely the Self-Accreditation Unit.
"The unit coordinates and manages the accreditation of the academic programmes of UUM ever since its inception two years ago, some audits have also been implemented," said her who chaired the launching of the MQA Self-Accreditation Follow-up Meeting at the Senate Room yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Chief Auditor, Prof. Ir Dr. Shahrir Abdullah said the two-day audit exercise conducted at UUM was to look at the general terms and conditions set out for awarding the accreditation to UUM.
He said the MQA was interested at looking to see how well UUM had given its commitment in complying with the requirements stipulated and in managing the university’s quality assurance activities.
Earlier, the Director of the University's Self-Accreditation Unit, Assoc. Prof Dr. Salniza Md. Salleh presented 10 general requirements, five special requirements and 12 proposed improvements.
According to her, the re-evaluation process on accredited programmes needed to be carried out to ensure that the quality of the programmes can be improved.
UUM received the Self-Accreditation Status certification from MQA in 2017 after undergoing Self- Accreditation audit in November of 2015. The achievement benefitted UUM immensely in improving the quality and strengthening its academic and research programmes which promoted UUM as the eminent management university internationally.
The Certificate of Self-Accreditation status entitles the university to accredit its own programme of study without obtaining approval from MQA and KPT (only to be informed).
