SMALL BUT MIGHTY CONTENDERS SET TO BRING HOME GOLD MEDALS
UUM ONLINE: Despite sending small contingent to the Malaysian Public Universities Staff Sports Championship (SUKUM), 麻豆直播 (UUM) aspire for this 鈥渟mall but mighty鈥 team will bring home gold medals.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan extended his best wishes to UUM鈥檚 representatives who will carry UUM flag to SUKUM from 8 to 17 August in Sabah.
He stated that although UUM is sending small team that will compete in only five events, he hopes they will secure gold medals in futsal, badminton, tennis, athletics, and golf.
鈥淚 hope we will compete with high level of commitment and sportsmanship to win the gold medals.
鈥淢aintaining the momentum from previous championship will further enhance team preparation and boost players鈥 confidence,鈥 he said during the Flag Handover Ceremony for SUKUM, the launch of OSH Week 2024, and the university level 67th Independence Month at the Foyer of the Sultan Sallehuddin Chancellery Building.
At the same event, he also launched OSH Week, an annual programme celebrated across Malaysia, typically held in the second week of July.
He noted that OSH Week aims to promote the establishment and preservation of a safe and healthy work culture among employers, employees, and the public.
In conjunction with the National Day celebration in August, which is aptly themed 鈥楳alaysia Madani: The Spirit of Independence,鈥 Prof. Dato' Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan launched the 67th Independence Month Celebration at UUM.
鈥淚 urge everyone to use the upcoming programmes and activities as a means to foster determination and commitment, strengthen ties among UUM denizens and cultivate a high spirit of unity and togetherness in fulfilling our duties and responsibilities.
鈥淚ndeed, independence hold immense value and significance. Independence is a symbol of freedom, sovereignty and success, not only for our beloved country, but also for each of us, loyal citizens under its auspices,鈥 he added.
The ceremony was further enlivened with patriotic song performances and poetry recital by UUM staff and student, along with the waving of Jalur Gemilang.
Also present at the event were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed; the Registrar, Mr. Ahmad Rasidi Abdullah; the various Heads of Centres of Authority; and senior university officials.
