SoIS LECTURER AWARDED THE VENUS INTERNATIONAL FACULTY AWARD

Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ (UUM) has once again added another feather to its cap when fellow lecturer, Dr. Narentheren Kaliappen was honoured at the 5th International Contemporary Academic Meet-CAM 2019 annual conference held in Chennai, India recently.

Dr. Narentheren, a Senior Lecturer at the School of International Studies (SoIS) who is also a Research Fellow at IMBRe UUM was awarded with the Young Faculty in Management Award. The award was presented to him by Dr. Desti Kannaiah from James Cook University, Singapore.

Also present at the event were Prof. V. Padmavathi of Sri Venkateswara University Tirupati, India; Prof Anirbid Sircar from Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University Gandhinagar, India and chairman of Venus International Faculty, Dr. R. Sathishkumar.

The annual award by VIFA in collaboration with Centre for Advanced Research and Design (CARD), India celebrates excellence and the involvement of members of the teaching profession in accordance to their respective areas of excellence. The award was presented to winners who showed excellence through the means of engaging students in inspiring and innovating them in efforts of highlighting their potential.

At the conference, Dr Narentheren was invited as an honorary guest to deliver a special address entitled, Connecting the Dots among University research, Industry Revolution 4.0 and Higher Education Teaching and Learning through Teaching Case Study.

In addition, he was also given the opportunity to deliver a keynote address entitled, Top 8 tips to evolve yourself as a teaching case writer.

Commenting on the recognition he received, he was overwhelmed with joy and expressed his gratitude and appreciation for being able to do the university proud and raising UUM's name in the world of education.

"Being invited as the Keynote Speaker at an international conference is indeed a great recognition given to a young lecturer like me.

"This award has given me the motivation to move forward and help strengthen teaching and learning and research. This is the second award I received this year, after receiving the Best Teaching Staff Award from the Centre for Foundation Studies in Management, UUM in April," he said.

He also thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani; Dean of SoIS, Assoc. Prof Dr Muhammad Fuad Othman; Director of IMBRe UUM, Assoc. Prof Dr Zarifah Abdullah and all UUM denizens for all the support and encouragement rendered to him.
