Â鶹ֱ²¥ (UUM) School of Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management (STHEM) picked up two Diploma awards at the 6th International Halal Chef Challenge Penang 2019 in conjunction with the 10th Halal Expo & Conference 2019 at the Setia Arena Spice, Penang recently.
STHEM received the Diploma award for the "Artistic Wedding Offering" category which saw participation from 25 contestants from countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam.

Mr. Muhamad Shah Kamal expressed his deepest sense of gratitude for the award given in spite of having to spend very little time make the necessary preparations and having to compete against other participants who were professionals and had more experience in the culinary field.
"We are very grateful for the unwavering support that we received from the Dean of STHEM, Dr Johan Afendi Ibrahim, the STHEM management team, academicians and administrative staff.
"We also share this achievement with two other members of staff who assisted us throughout the competition namely Mr. Mohd Fariz Azhar Husin and Mr. Firdaus Ghazali.
"Hopefully, both the award and participation in this culinary competition can be a catalyst to encourage participation from students of the Hospitality Management Programme," he said.
The 6th International Halal Chef Challenge Penang 2019 attracted a total of 1200 participants and gathered over 1000 professionals in the culinary field from eight countries. Contestants competed against each other in 31 categories.
