STRATEGIC COOPERATION BETWEEN UUM AND KEDAH STATE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
UUM ONLINE: Yan - The Company’s Performance and Investment Analysis course is expected to strengthen the financial management skills of government agencies in the State of Kedah.
The two-day course organised by the Kedah State Development Corporation (PKNK) together with the Kedah State Government and the School of Economics, Finance and Banking (SEFB) was officiated by Kedah Deputy State Secretary (Management), Dato' Syed Shaharuddin Abdullah representing Dato' Paduka Secretary to the State of Kedah Government.
The conference began with the keynote address by the Chief Executive Officer of PKNK, Dato 'Abdul Rahman Abdullah, followed by a speech by the Dean of SEFB, Prof. Dr. Russayani Ismail.
Prof. Dr. Russayani said the Company’s Performance and Investment Analysis course exposed participants to methods to assess the company’s financial position to avoid financial stress and bankruptcy situations.
In addition, according to her, exposure was also given to the participants on the best means to choose capital budget investments to maximize the value of the company.
She said the first course held by the PKNK Investment Division showed strategic cooperation which brought about huge impact and should be continued in the future to strengthen financial management skills by government agencies in the State of Kedah.
"This is in line with the state government's aspiration to improve the civil service as well as to realize the development of the State of Kedah for the well-being of its people," she said.
The course ended with the closing ceremony and presentation of certificates of participation by the Chief Operating Officer of PKNK, Mr. Syed Yussof Syed Othman.
Mr. Syed Yusoff expressed hopes that all participants could apply the knowledge received to increase the value of the company and strengthen the financial position of their respective companies.
Apart from that, he also expressed hopes that the network of cooperation among PKNK, the Kedah State Government and UUM will continue.
A total of 54 participants comprising top management and senior management of State government-linked companies (GLCs) as well as PKNK Group and Kedah State government subsidiaries attended the course.
