Â鶹ֱ²¥ (UUM) students were urged to constantly explore, discover, study and analyse new knowledge to further enhance their mastery of a particular field.

Member of the Kedah State Government Executive Council cum Chairperson of the Education, Human Resources and Human Development Committee, Dr. Salmee Said said that by doing so the self-confidence and self-esteem of students will continue to stand out and can be further improved.

According to her, students must be aware that things and knowledge will not remain new forever, for with change the latest developments and new innovations will come.

She called upon the students to equip themselves with maximum capacity to develop their personalities and visionary behaviours in planning the activities to realize their vision and mission.

"We want to make sure that all the qualities that are acquired can be contributed to human development and not just end there. With all the valuable experiences, theories and activities that they have undergone need to be shared with the community, especially with the youths and teens who will act as catalysts for improvement.  In doing so, the youths and teenagers will work towards improving their self-esteem and lead them onto better  part of their lives," she said at the opening ceremony of the 32nd UUM Convocation Fare.

She who represented the Menteri Besar said that in the occasion of the Convocation Ceremony and the Convocation Fare (PESKON), the direct involvement of the Student Representative Council (MPP) and UUM students will enabled them to learn valuable experiences namely the practical aspect of programme management.

She said that through the exposure, students were not focused solely on academics, but had the opportunity to showcase their talents and abilities in managing various activities related to their lives on campus.

She said the experience was seen as having the ability to shape their attitude, character and leadership qualities which could be added value for them in order to continue to create their own excellence and to be able to position themselves amongst the best.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato' Dr Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani  said that, as in previous years, UUM lined up a variety of exciting programmes that benefited students, graduands and families and the local community in the occasion of the UUM Convocation Fare from 16 until 23 October.

He said that in line with the theme of the UUM Convocation Party, 'LOVE UUM', he called on all UUM students to be the catalyst to mobilize the University’s aspirations in making programmes in the form of economic development, social progress and innovation successful.

"I fervently hope that UUM students can take full advantage and benefit from all the opportunities made available at this university to enhance their quality of life as well as foster a high-performance culture in preparation for a more challenging world outside the university and beyond their career," he said.

He added that UUM students were also urged to take advantage of the various activities throughout the Convocation Fare as a channel to hone their talents and abilities in the aspects of leadership and management while prioritizing unity as the key to organizational strength.

PESKON organised by the Student Affairs Department (JHEP) and Student Representative Council is packed with various academic, entrepreneurship, cultural and arts activities, sports and recreation, spirituality and exhibitions with a total of 264 sales lots including 28 sales lots exclusively set for students.

End Game Run, Mobile Legend Tournament, I Can See Your Tilawah, Si Cilik Berbakat, Cupcake Story, Busking Competition, Millennial Elocution Contest, Runaway Mascot and many more are amongst the programmes the public can expect throughout the Convocation Fare.

UUM will also hosts a religious programme which will be attended by speaker Dato' Ustaz Mohd Kazim Elias, apart from the cultural and entertainment performances by renowned artistes such as Awie, Raihan, Warner Music and Sony Music artistes.
