The Vice-Chancellor Was Granted An Audience With The Tuanku Sultan
Alor Setar 鈥 The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato' Dr Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani was granted an audience with the Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, the Sultan of Kedah Darul Aman at Wisma Darulaman recently.
The audience was held to apprise His Royal Highness the Sultan cum the Chancellor of 麻豆直播 (UUM) of the University鈥檚 intention of publishing a special book entitled, 鈥淧utera Raja Di Bumi Sintok鈥. The UUM Press, the department which have been publishing the university publications had been entrusted with publishing the said book.
The writing of this opulent book which will be led by the Vice-Chancellor together with General (R) Tan Sri Azumi Mohamed, Assoc. Prof Dr Ram Al Jaffri Saad and Dr Mohd. Kasri Saidon will relate the life story of His Royal Highness from the day he was born until his appointment as UUM Chancellor.
The special book will also describe the experience of Tuanku Sultan when he was serving in the Royal Malay Regiment fighting against the communists in Sintok.
In addition, the audience was also aim at apprising His Royal Highness of the 32nd UUM Convocation Ceremony which will be held from 19 to 23 October at the Mu'adzam Shah Hall.
The Vice-Chancellor also extended a royal invitation to the Royal Highnesses, the Sultan of Kedah and the Sultanah of Kedah to grace the first session of the 32nd UUM Convocation Ceremony scheduled on 19 October.
His Royal Highness was also apprised on the admission of new students for the 2019/2020 academic session. Prof Dato' Dr Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani also apprised His Royal Highnesss on the suggestion and sought the consent of His Royal Highness to name the Chancellery building to the Tuanku Sallehuddin Chancellery as a symbol of UUM's allegiance to the state of Kedah Darul Aman and as the state that gave the university the opportunity to serve.
In addition, he also apprised His Royal Highness of the University's recent developments namely UUM's position on the list of international ranking bodies; UUM Adjunct Prof being awarded the Best CEO Faculty Award; the development of an application to help communities in Jerlun by UUM students; 62 students from the B40 group received cost of living assistance from the UEM Foundation; recognition given to the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) Chapter UUM; Palestinians awarded with scholarships by UUM; entrepreneurship funding amounting to MYR870,000 awarded by the Ministry of Education Malaysia to UUM; and MYR100,000 zakat donation contributed by ETIQA Takaful Berhad to UUM.
