TISSA STUDENT ATTAINS THIRD HIGHEST MARK IN SBL, ACCA EXAM

L SBLUUM ONLINE: Last March, Ms. Looi Pui Mun brought glory to Â鶹ֱ²¥ (UUM) after obtaining the highest marks in Malaysia and the seventh highest in the world for the Strategic Business Reporting (SBR) of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) examination.

This time, once again the Semester 7 Student of the Bachelor of Accounting (Information System) from Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy (TISSA) has been listed in third place for obtaining the highest marks in Malaysia for the Strategic Business Leader (SBL) paper for the month of September.

According to Ms. Pui Mun, SBL is an innovative case study examination set within the corporate reporting environment where candidates will be tested on concepts, theories, principles and most importantly their ability to apply knowledge to real life scenarios.

According to her, to respond to the questions she had to act as an accountant cum consultant in the case study and had to evaluate the company's strategy and operations. She then provided views (according to the requirements of the question) to various parties in the organisation such as CEO, CFO, shareholders and stakeholders in the organisation.

"I am happy to be able to get the highest marks even though I have been placed in the third place. When a person succeeds in getting high marks in SBL it means they have good analytical skills in understanding the scenario and the needs of the case study as well as possess good communication skills. This is because the assessment made should be done in report format, memos and briefing papers for different levels in the organisation.

"Next, I will sit for the Advanced Performance Management paper where this examination has recorded the lowest passing rate among all the ACCA papers, therefore it makes me worried and nervous as I have to complete many assignments this semester according to the set time period. I hope can score in the average score," she said.

Ms. Pui Mun also expressed hopes that her achievement will inspire others to work hard to achieve their ambitions and goals.

The student of the Bachelor of Accounting (Information System) from Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy (TISSA) received maximum exemption from ACCA through the ACCA Accelerate Scheme and she only needs to sit for the remaining four ACCA professional examinations.

Students can undergo the accounting professional body programme along with their studies.
