TM-UUM COLLABORATION HEIGHTENS DIGITAL LIFESTYLE WITH HIGH-SPEED INTERNET SERVICES
UUM ONLINE: Kuala Lumpur - Towards realising UUM鈥檚 aspiration of becoming a 'Digital Campus', Telekom Malaysia (TM) Berhad sealed a Service Agreement with UUM at the TM ONE Tower last Thursday.
The signing of the Service Agreement enabled the provision of high-speed Internet connection through TM ONE Direct Internet Access within the UUM campus.
The agreement that was signed by the TM Group Chief Executive Officer, Dato' Noor Kamarul Anuar Nuruddin and 麻豆直播 (UUM) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani, was witnessed by TM Chairman Mr. Rosli Man.
The Vice-Chancellor said high-speed Internet services have become a must for the denizens of UUM in multiple activities, particularly in terms of scholarly and academic ones.
According to him, as a government-linked company (GLC) entity, TM had become a major player in the telecommunications industry in Malaysia and as such, UUM鈥檚 confidence in TM resulted in said collaboration.
He said TM would provide UUM with High Speed Internet Services with a capacity of 10Gbps for a three-year period from February 2020 to February 2023.
鈥淚nternet services at UUM are implemented to support the capacity of around 25,000 UUMWiFi users across the UUM Sintok and UUM Kuala Lumpur campuses.
"This endeavour will provide Internet services to a total of 192 lecture halls or lecture rooms, access to 7,800 student rooms (accommodation), 35 computer labs and 20 student lounges, while supporting online application systems such as email and portals, and supports the implementation of online learning and learning processes such as lecture videos, interactive forums, chats and quizzes, 鈥漢e said.
Meanwhile, TM Chairman Mr. Rosli Man said he was elated and honoured to be a catalyst for UUM's digital transformation journey through the provision of high-speed Internet connections and comprehensive digital solutions that would enable digital learning among students, lecturers and university staff.
He said the collaboration enabled TM ONE to showcase its ability to provide reliable communication solutions and develop a secure 'Connected Ecosystem' for UUM.
鈥淭M will continue to lay the groundwork for Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) to serve the digital and business community and the digital industry as well as the digital government.
