UTLC Watch: Sentiminer Clinches The Gold Award At IUCEL 2019
UUM research product, the UTLC Watch: SentiMiner wins the Gold Award at the International University Carnival on E-Learning (IUCEL) 2019.
The product was the result of a joint venture amongst fellow lecturers namely Ts. Dr. Izwan Nizal Mohd Shaharanee, Ts. Dr. Jastini Mohd. Jamil and Assoc. Prof Ts. Dr. Muhamad Shahbani Abu Bakar.
The Gold Award was presented by the Deputy Director-General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Prof Dr Mohd Cairul Iqbal Mohd Amin at the IUCEL 2019 Closing Ceremony at DeTAR PUTRA, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Sarawak.
According to Ts. Dr. Izwan Nizal Mohd Shaharanee, the two-day carnival saw a total of 190 entries from various parties including from public universities, private university, the industry and schools.
According to him, UTLC Watch: SentiMiner served as an analytical dashboard to identify student sentiments in the teaching and learning process.
"This product leverages analytical and data-driven technologies to add value to UTLC in hopes to better understand the needs of students and faculty. In doing so, it would enhance the quality of teaching and learning experience," he said.
Meanwhile, Director of the University Teaching and Learning Centre (UTLC) Assoc Prof Ts. Dr. Muhamad Shahbani Abu Bakar said IUCEL provided a platform to promote, explore, and share best practices and global expertise in e-Learning applications at all levels of educational institutions around the world.
He added that UUM was selected as the host and co-organiser of the International University Carnival on E-Learning (IUCEL) for the year 2020.
The announcement was made by Prof. Dr. Mohd Cairul Iqbal who also presented the appointment letter as the organiser of the IUCEL 2020 to the Director of UTLC who represented UUM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International).
IUCEL 2020 will be the fifth organisation jointly organised by the Ministry of Education Malaysia, the Malaysian e-Learning Council for Public Universities (MEIPTA) and the Malaysia Centre for E-Learning (MyCEL).
