UUM ALUMNUS APPOINTED AS MAYOR OF IPOH

UUM ONLINE: Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ (UUM) is proud of the achievement of its fellow alumnus, Dato' Rumaizi Baharin @ Md. Daud who has been appointed as the Mayor of Ipoh, effective 1 April.

He who was previously the Director of the Perak Land and Mines Office (PTG), is a fellow graduate of Bachelor of Accounting, UUM class of 1998, he then went on to pursue a Master degree in Administration and Land Management at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

The appointment of Dato' Rumaizi, 45, is to succeed Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim who previously took office as acting mayor after being appointed as Perak State Secretary in December last year.

Dato' Rumaizi has extensive experience in the administrative affairs of the state government and is the youngest person to be appointed to the position of Director of PTG.

His appointment as the Mayor of Ipoh was announced by the Perak State Government through its Menteri Besar, Dato' Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

Meanwhile, UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Ahmad Bashawir said he welcomed and expressed his delight in the appointment of the UUM alumnus.

According to him, the appointment would indirectly boost UUM's reputation, performance and reputation as the Eminent Management University.

"I hope that although young he can carry out the responsibilities entrusted upon him to his best ability," he said.
