UUM AND RUSSIAN UNIVERSITY SET TO ESTABLISH INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION IN THE FIELD OF TECHNOLOGY

vc russiaUUM ONLINE: Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ (UUM) continues to move forward and seize the opportunity to establish strategic relations with Siberian Federal University, Russia.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato' Dr Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani said, the opportunity to hold joint discussions online opened up the opportunity for UUM to establish collaboration between the two nations.

According to him, together with his counterpart from Siberian Federal University, they discussed bilateral relations in generating educational excellence in the future.

"This undertaking is in line with the University's agenda to establish the centre for the studies of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), therefore we are looking for partners with a technological background such as Russia, a nation that is known for focusing on all matters related to science and technology," he said.

The discussion which was held through Webex was attended by representatives from Siberian Federal University namely Mr. Ruslan Baryshev, Mdm. Anna Mezit, Mr. Vladimir Kazakov, Mdm. Inga Byteva, and Mdm.

Alena Sukhanovskaia. An official from the Russian Trade Federation, Kuala Lumpur, Mr. Nikita Ponomarenko also participated in the discussion. The proposal to collaborate with SibFU is the result of UUM's initial discussions with him.

During the meeting, representatives from both universities exchanged ideas and views on education issues between Malaysia and Russia. They also explored potential joint ventures in various aspects.

Among other matters being discussed were inviting lecturers to teach online (invited lecturers), research, student mobility, online learning and double degree.

Also present were the Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. Yusnidah Ibrahim; Assistant Vice-Chancellor, UUM CAS, Prof. Dr. Huda Hj. Ibrahim and the Director of the Centre of International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Badariah Hj. Din.
