UUM IS MALAYSIA'S FOURTH BEST IN THE WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS BY SUBJECT 2021

THE rankingUUM ONLINE: Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ (UUM) continues to outperform other research universities (RU) when the university's main subject, Business and Economics soared to the 251-300 best position in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2021 announced yesterday.

The Business and Economics subjects have been listed in THE World University Rankings by Subject for two consecutive years at the 401-500 position for 2019 and 2020.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani said, "Praise be to Allah, with the latest ranking announced, UUM managed to compete with two RUs in Malaysia, namely Universiti Putra Malaysia and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia by being in fourth place in Malaysia for the said subjects".

According to him, the achievement reflected the strength of UUM in the subject of Business and Economics, despite UUM being a management university.

He also said that the notable achievement was the result of the hard work rendered by all the staff of the university to elevate UUM internationally in line with the tagline 'We Are Global'.

"I hope this success can be maintained so that UUM can move forward, and continue be on par with other RUs," he said.

Apart from Business and Economics subjects, the other four main subjects of the University also soared, namely Computer Science, Education, Physical Sciences and Social Sciences.

The Computer Science subject has been ranked at the 601-800 position, Education (301-400), Physical Sciences (601-800) and Social Sciences (401-500).

In THE World University Rankings by Subject 2020, the Computer Science subject was ranked at the 601+, Education (401+), Physical Sciences (801+) and Social Sciences (501-600).

Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject adopts 13 indicators categorized into five main categories namely Teaching: the learning environment; Research: volume, income and reputation; Citations: research influence; International outlook: staff, students and research and Industry income: innovation. The weightings of each subject may differ from one another.
