UUM Researcher Delves Deep Into Strategies Of Writing Impactful Journals
The University Utara Malaysia (UUM) Research and Innovation Management Centre (RIMC) organised the Workshop on Publishing in High Impact Journal, targeted at the group of young lecturers at the Future Learning Lab, University Teaching and Learning Centre (UTLC).
A total of 35 lecturers attended the workshop conducted by Prof Ts. Dr. Norazah Mohd Suki.
Prof Ts. Dr Norazah said that through the workshop, participants had the opportunity to share knowledge on ways and means of producing high quality academic publications as well as criteria on the selection of high impact journals.
"This direct exposure will also provide better guidance to academics as well as tips for selecting quality conferences that can bring about better impact on the publication materials."
This process also helps in achieving their KPIs for the enhancement of cumulative citation as well as publication per staff."
She further added that the participants were also given the opportunity for one-to-one consultation session with the invited speaker. The face-to –face consultation would allow them to further refine their research papers and ultimately enable them to publish in Scopus and / or high impact journals.
"In addition, participants were also exposed to ways to publish research papers in Scopus or high impact journals, which will indirectly encourage participants to publish more quality research papers in the future as well as enhance the competency and quality of UUM postgraduate students," she said.
Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof Sr. Dr. Mohd Nasrun Mohd Nawi, Deputy Director (Research Publishing) of RIMC said the workshop was an excellent platform and medium for young academics to learn and enhance their knowledge in the field of academic writing.
