UUM SMMTC Lecturer Receives The 251 Fabulous Global Education Leaders Award

UUM SMMTC LECTURER RECEIVES THE 251 FABULOUS GLOBAL EDUCATION LEADERS AWARD

Excellence in the fields of research, supervisory and academic  has enabled fellow lecturer from the School of Multimedia Technology and and Communication (SMMTC), Assoc. Prof Ts. Dr. Ariffin Abdul Mutalib to be awarded the 251 Fabulous Global Education Leaders Award presented by the World Education Congress in Mumbai, India recently.

Dr. Ariffin deemed the award he received as very special and was very proud of it while expressing his gratitude for being recognised internationally.

According to him, as a person who had worked hard in the field of academic and management, recognition by those outside of UUM toward this kind of leadership would indeed become a source of strength that breathed in new spirit.

"I try to carry out the trust and responsibilities entrusted upon me as much as possible and ensure that it leaves lasting impression not only on me, but on society as well.

Dr. Ariffin said receiving the award did not mean that he had become the best, so he pledged to continue to improve himself to be better in the future.

He said he needed to learn a lot and continue to study if he wanted to be the chosen individual even though being recognised and being awarded with awards were never what he was after. To him contribution to the University and society was a priority.

"For example, last year I received a scholarship from The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to participate in the International Deans' Course (IDC) in Germany and this year when the Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT) organized the IDC Malaysia Chapter (MyIDC), I was selected as one of the coaches and had the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with the course participants.

Having held the position of Dean of SMMTC, Dr. Ariffin expressed his hopes that in the years to come, more of his counterparts in UUM will also be selected to receive the award.

According to him, the leadership skills can be improved through extensive reading and undergoing effective training as the outcome will help in performing the task effectively and significantly.

Recipients of the 251 Fabulous Global Education Leaders Award are those who have performed remarkable tasks and have excellent track record particularly in the field of research and are evaluated by independent judges comprising senior leaders, researchers and academicians.
