Alor Setar 鈥� The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani gained audience with His Royal Highness Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Ibni Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin, the Raja Muda of Kedah Darul Aman at the Kedah State Islamic Religious Council (MAIK) recently.

The aim of the royal audience was to inform His Royal Highness of the 47th Inter-Varsity Golf Tournament Championship scheduled to take place on the 7th and 8th September, and also to extend a most cordial invitation to His Royal Highness to partake in the said Golf  Tournament Championship.

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani also informed His Royal Highness about the production of the 鈥渂aju Kedah鈥� with Sintok batik motives in hopes to restore the traditional culture of the state of Kedah.  The said apparel will be imbued with the basic patterns of Sintok 鈥渟ongket鈥� made up of flora motives found within the vicinity of Sintok campus.

Vice-Chancellor also informed His Royal Highness of the University鈥檚 intent on appointing Her Majesty KDYM Sultanah Maliha binti Almarhum Tengku Ariff as the first patron to this project and appointing Her Royal Highness Che Puan Muda Zaheeda binti Mohamad Ariff as the second patron.

In addition, His Royal Highness was also apprised on UUM's intentions to hold educational collaboration and penetrate the Qatar market in line with UUM's internationalization agenda.

During the royal audience, the Vice-Chancellor also apprised His Royal Highness on UUM's position on the list of international rating bodies namely the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings and Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings.
