Vice-Chancellor Gains Audience With Tunku Temenggong Of Kedah
Alor Setar – The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani was granted an audience with Yang Teramat Mulia Dato’ Seri Diraja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Binti Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, Tunku Temenggong of Kedah who is also the Pro-Chancellor of UUM at the Keriang Hill Resort recently.
The audience was aimed at extending a royal invitation to the Yang Teramat Mulia Tunku Pro-Chancellor to preside over the first session of the 32nd UUM Convocation Ceremony and present scrolls to the graduates of the Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz (TISSA-UUM) at a session which will be decided on later.
In addition, the Vice-Chancellor also made a royal appeal to Yang Teramat Mulia Tunku Pro-Chancellor for the establishment of the Sultan Abdul Halim Professor Chair: Corporate Governance which was agreed upon in 2017 be implemented and made possible for the benefit of all students, academic staff and the UUM.
The establishment of the chair at TISSA-UUM is in line with the university's direction in strengthening corporate governance and becoming the catalyst for high impact research and publications especially in the field of accounting.
Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir also extended a cordial invitation to Tunku Pro-Chancellor to be the Royal Patron for the 2019 TISSA-UUM Alumni Dinner scheduled to be held in November in Kuala Lumpur.
During the audience, the Yang Teramat Mulia Tunku Pro-Chancellor was apprised on the recent developments of the Tunku Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy which included statistics of the TISSA-UUM graduates; two undergraduate programmes from the TISSA-UUM received the EPAS (EFMD Programme Accreditation System) Accreditation and UUM’s position in the world ranking.
