UUM ONLINE: Entering the second phase of the Movement Control Order (MCO), serving as frontline workers, the university security personnel continued to play an integral role in ensuring that campus safety was maintained throughout the MCO period.

Working tirelessly and without any complaints uttered, they continued to work for 24 hours nonstop.

Director of Security Department, Lt. Col. (R) Musa Bari said the operations of movement control at UUM had so far been smooth as UUM denizens adhere to all the directives and recommendations directed by the Government and the management of the University.

According to him, the security department was also responsible for carrying out the directives issued whereby the control of the campus entrance during this period was intensified.

“Since the start of the MCO, all entrances to UUM such as the main post, the north post, the Bukit Kachi main entrance and the Taman Siswa have carefully watched to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak.

"All officers and security guards are working hard to ensure the safety of students and staff on campus and at home," he said.

He said to ensure the smooth operation of the control, 25 staff were assigned to each of the three working shifts.

According to him, the security guards and officers were available 24 hours and would conduct daily patrols on campus as well as at the Taman Siswa should there be cases that required their services.

He said the entry and exit movement of staff and students was also under close scrutiny whereby any staff who wanted to enter the campus would need to present a work order, in addition the security guards would also ensure that they wore masks and were made to undergo body temperature checks.

“The enforcement is carried out to ensure that we can break the epidemic chain from spreading into the campus.

"I hope that campus denizens will continue to cooperate and adhere to all the directives issued by the Government, the University and the Security Department," he said.

At the same time, he also warned students not to gather in public and maintain a distance of 1 metre, besides practicing good personal hygiene such as washing hands with soap frequently or using hand sanitizer.
